What color is a banana? It’s not just yellow, it can be at least twenty five different shades! On May 12, 2018 families were invited to join the Whitney in celebrating its collaboration with authors Jason Fulford and Tamara Shopsin on a new series of children’s books inspired by the way artists see the world. Parents and kids created their own artworks experimenting with grey-greens, blue-reds, and yellow-pinks, by layering transparent colored materials on top of one another. Fulford and Shopsin worked with families throughout the day and encouraged them to think about color in a new way.
