Craft Lab: Freestyle Embroidery

On Sunday, February 12, 2023 participants joined exhibiting artist Carmen Mardónez at Craft Contemporary to push the boundaries of embroidery and create expressive abstract designs. Mardónez has developed her own style of embroidery by using needle and thread in a free and gestural way. Participants worked with Mardónez to transform commonly used fabrics into something new. Attendees were invited to explore Mardónez’s work in the exhibition Strings of Desire.
