On October 6, 2018 families explored the world of programmed art. Parents and kids created artworks by following a set of instructions, made self-drawing robots, and were invited to download Tamiko Thiel's app, Unexpected Growth (2018) to experience an alternate reality in which plastics dominate the environment. Inspired by Thiel's work families used recycled plastics to create a sculpture. Families could also take a Family Tour of Programmed: Rules, Codes, and Choreographies in Art, 1965–2018 to learn more about the exhibition through lively discussion and fun gallery activities.
